Waste Less, Recycle More offers a number of funding programs designed to stimulate new investment in innovative approaches to improve waste management across NSW.
There are a wide variety of grants focusing on integrated waste and recycling programs available to local government, businesses, industry and the community.
As part of the program, SHOROC and its partner councils received a $600,000 grant over four years to develop and implement a regional waste strategy to improve waste and resource recovery in the region.
Major priorities for Waste Less, Recycle More include: avoiding and reducing waste, increasing recycling, diverting more waste from landfill, managing problem wastes better and reducing litter and illegal dumping.
There are various grants available to councils, the community and businesses for initiatives that help meet these targets.
Grants are available in the following categories:
- Business advisory services
- Industrial ecology business support
- Litter prevention
- Organics infrastructure
- Major resource recovery infrastructure
- Food waste avoidance
- Local government organics collection systems
- Community recycling centres
- Combatting illegal dumping: clean-up and prevention program
This program is supported by the NSW Environment Protection Authority with funding from the waste levy.
