Is your business located in the SHOROC region on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, somewhere between Bradley’s Head to Barrenjoey?

Or perhaps you are thinking of starting or growing your business somewhere in our region. If so you are a valuable part of our region’s economic future.

The SHOROC partner councils recognise the need to support local businesses and are geared towards helping create local jobs by supporting new and existing local businesses.

Over the next 20 years we have a target of creating capacity for 20,800 new jobs in our region, as outlined in our regional strategy ‘Shaping our future – directions for transport, health, housing and jobs for a vibrant sustainable SHOROC region’.

The priority for this increase is to create local jobs for local residents so we can minimise the transport needed for people to get to and from work. Already around 78% of workers in the SHOROC region live and work locally. As the region grows our partner councils will endeavour to create one new job for each new dwelling to maintain this high ratio with a view to reversing the decline in the proportion of key workers in the region.

We are also seeking to attract and retain appropriate business and industry in the region to build on the competitive strength of existing industries retail, health, professional and scientific, manufacturing and wholesale trade as well as education and training.

So if you are already in business or thinking about starting your very own business venture in the SHOROC region, here are some useful links to organisations and resources that may be able to support you along the way.
