SHOROC 2015 NSW Election Priorities policy being presented to the NSW Premier and local MPs at a recent meeting

SHOROC is a partnership of Manly, Mosman, Pittwater and Warringah Councils led by a Board of the council Mayors and General Managers. We advocate for our region, coordinate regional planning, and build partnerships to improve the capacity of our member councils.

In the lead up to the 2015 NSW Election in March, the SHOROC Board has developed an Election Priorities policy and recently presented the policy to the NSW Premier and local NSW MPs.

This paper outlines the major priorities for NSW Government infrastructure and services for this region for the 2015-19 term of government. Developed in conjunction with councils based on the significant community consultation underpinning their Community Strategic Plans, these priorities represent the key issues for the communities of this region.

In 2010 SHOROC developed the Shaping Our Future strategy outlining transport and health infrastructure needs for the region. This strategy formed the policy platform for the 2011 NSW Election and our local NSW MPs worked with SHOROC and advocated strongly for these priorities. As a result the NSW Government is now delivering – constructing the new Northern Beaches Hospital and committing $633 million to improve the region’s public transport and major roads.

This paper builds on the Shaping Our Future strategy as a call-to-action to gain the commitment of the NSW Government and those seeking election at the 2015 NSW Election to deliver these priorities.
