The NSW Government has announced plans for a new $30 million community health centre to be constructed at Mona Vale Hospital. This development is part of a major upgrade of community health facilities for the region, including a new centre planned for Brookvale and upgrades to Dalwood.

The three-storey development, planned for the eastern side of Mona Vale Hospital’s campus, will accommodate a range of new and existing health services.

An environmental impact statement (EIS) for the new facility is on public exhibition until 4 April. You can have your say at

Pittwater MP, Rob Stokes says this modern and expansive building will provide a fantastic addition to Mona Vale Hospital.

“One completed the new multi-storey building will provide a diversity of community health services and state-of-the-art consultation, treatment and staff facilities. This project will join other major works currently underway to help revitalise Mona Vale Hospital and prepare it for its future role,” Rob Stokes said.

Northern Beaches Health Service/Hornsby-Ku-ring-gai General Manager Frank Bazik said planned services at the northern centre will include rehabilitation, aged care, physiotherapy, chronic disease clinical rehabilitation, community nursing, paediatric occupational therapy, speech pathology, child and family health care and mental health, drug and alcohol and oral health services.

“These services will complement the new 26-bed sub-acute rehabilitation facility, expanded palliative care and other health services to be provided at Mona Vale Hospital, and will help improve the continuum of care for young and old on the Northern Beaches.

“This public exhibition of planning for the construction of a new community health centre confirms the NSW Government’s commitment to revitalising Mona Vale Hospital and continuing its long and proud legacy of health service delivery to our community,” Mr Bazik said.

The Northern Community Health Centre is expected to be completed in 2015.
