The SHOROC Mayors of Manly, Mosman, Pittwater and Warringah councils today met with NSW Government Ministers and local MPs Jillian Skinner, Brad Hazzard, Mike Baird, Rob Stokes and Jonathan O’Dea to discuss transport, health and planning priorities for the Northern Beaches and North Shore.
“This is the first time all the Mayors and MPs have come together since our local MPs became part of the newly formed NSW Government”, said SHOROC President and Pittwater Mayor Harvey Rose.
“Before the election the Coalition committed to urgently seeking Expressions of Interest for a Northern Beaches Bus Rapid Transit system, $125 million for the Northern Beaches Hospital with construction to start in the next 4 years, and to returning maternity to Mona Vale Hospital”, said Mayor Rose.
“The SHOROC councils have all agreed the Bus Rapid Transit and construction of the Northern Beaches Hospital are the key priorities for our region under our Shaping Our Future strategy released in 2010”, said Mayor Rose, “The key points of discussion were how our local MPs and the new NSW Government were getting on with the job of delivering on the transport and health infrastructure our region sorely needs.”
“I’m pleased to say it was a productive meeting and demonstrates the great outcomes for the community a good working partnership between our councils and the State Government can achieve”, said Mayor Rose.
The priorities for the SHOROC region are outlined in Shaping Our Future, the regional strategy formally agreed by Manly, Mosman, Pittwater and Warringah councils.
