SHOROC  and its partner councils have been reconised for leading practice communications by the Local Government and Shires Associations (LGSA), being awarded honours at the prestigious LGSA RH Dougherty Awards. Warringah Council was also recognised for leading practice communications.

The awards are presented by The LGSA to recognise and encourage geater understanding and communication by councils with their communities. The RH Dougherty Awards promote excellence in three distinct fields; Communication, Reporting to the community and Outstanding Individual Contributions within Local Government.

Warringah Council plus SHOROC and our partner councils received Highly Commended Awards for;

Division D:  ROCS and County Councils

  • Shore Regional Organisation of Councils (SHOROC) – Shaping Our Future campaign for transport and hospitals

Division C: population over 100,000

The awards aim to recognise and encourage greater understanding and accountability by councils to their local communities. The importance of building a partnership between community and council has been acknowledged by Local Government and consultation and two-way communication are taking place all the time.

The awards received by Warringah and SHOROC acknowledge the partnership built with the community on the ‘Shaping Our Future’ strategy and ‘Talk of the Town’ and is a credit to the time, energy, commitment and passion of all those people involved in the process.
