Pittwater Council | $10,000 Win for Local Business

Pittwater Business Limited (PBL) has received funding under the current ‘Collaborating for Success’ strategic business clusters program of Industry & Investment NSW. The $10,000 grant will be used to supplement PBL’s marketing budget, enabling it to offer enhanced services and support to businesses located in Pittwater.

Industry & Investment NSW (I&I NSW) supports lead organisations, such as businesses, industry associations and local councils, operating business clusters and networks in NSW with strong economic development goals, to help them achieve competitive advantage in local or international markets.

Clusters are groups of businesses that combine their skills and knowledge to create new business opportunities or co-operate around common business objectives.

The funding will help small businesses combine their skills and knowledge to create new business opportunities or co-operate around common business objectives.

“This is our first Government grant and we are honoured to be a recipient,” said PBL chairperson, Shayna Price.  “It reflects our acceptance by the local small business community and acknowledges the growth in PBL membership since its establishment in 2006; it also endorses our reputation as a leading support network for businesses on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. “

Under the NSW Government’s Metropolitan Strategy, Pittwater represents a significant segment of the North East subregion of Sydney and has been given an employment capacity target of 6,000 new jobs by 2031.

The funding will enable PBL to improve support to businesses in this important regional corridor by enhancing the educational and interactive capability of the organisation’s website making it a active rather than a static business tool.  PBL will also implement a collaborative marketing campaign showcasing the benefits of doing business in the Pittwater region and promoting PBL member companies.

“We are also grateful to both Pittwater Council and the Shore Regional Organisation of Councils (SHOROC) for sending letters of support for PBL to Industry & Development NSW, giving credence to PBL’s application,” said Ms Price.

Pittwater Mayor and SHOROC President Harvey Rose said there were over 3000 small to medium businesses in the region and the grant would ‘go a long way to help them get the training they often need.’

“Pittwater Business Limited does a marvellous job of connecting and promoting local businesses and their success in getting the grant reflects this.”

“They are helping ensure a healthy local business sector which is so essential to a liveable and vibrant community.”

Ben Taylor, SHOROC Executive Director, said: “Our region is characterised by a high proportion of the population that live and work locally. PBL has an excellent track record for bringing local small and medium-sized enterprises together and offers an extensive program of events and learning forums that educate, retain and develop business capacity in our region.”

Paul William-Smith, Regional Economic Development Coordinator, Warringah & Pittwater Councils, said: “PBL will continue to grow from strength to strength, driven by the enthusiasm of the Board and its members. As well as increasing its membership base and collaborative involvement with other local business stakeholders, participation in the Strategic Business Clusters program will help to attract a wider range of business sectors with common business interests for economic development on the northern beaches.”

“PBL is a not-for-profit organisation so we truly appreciate the added impact the funding will give to our marketing program,” said Ms Price.
