Andrew Holder - speaker at the October seminar
How to raise a business and manage a family
Pittwater Business Ltd. Oct 2011 Breakfast
Wednesday, October 19, from 7.00am at Bayview Golf Club, 1825 Pittwater Road, Mona Vale.
Maintaining a successful career while you are raising a family is no easy task. The modern man or woman business executive does a lot of running: running a business, running a family, running meetings, running up hills, running up bills, running the bath for the babies, running the kids to school, running amok, running around like a headless chook.
Man on the run, Andrew Holder, is a husband and father to four young children – and a CEO to four young businesses with more than 60 staff. During the GFC downturn, Andrew’s company, TDA Interiors, one of Australia’s leading fit-out organisations, was ranked 4th in BRW’s Fast Starters list; another company was 7th. His family lives in Avalon and his businesses live in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Andrew will be guest speaker at the October 19 Pittwater Business Limited (PBL) breakfast seminar at Bayview Golf Club.
He will deliver a presentation on work/life balance packed full of handy tips and tricks to keep your cool and your sense of humor. He will explore the parallels between raising a business and managing a family as he shares his own experiences in both dramatic arenas of his life. In particular, Andrew will explain how he has modelled and future-proofed the lead generation and sales process, to ensure that all of his businesses have unique sustainability, enabling him to spend more time with his family.
In his recently published book, Reflections of a Modern Man, Andrew draws strong comparisons between various aspects of his family life and business life including managing cash flow, learning to walk, learning to talk, developing a network of friends at home and a network of business contacts, emotional experiences such as his children’s first day and the first day at work for a new employee. “Work and family are connected, they shouldn’t be kept separate and there is a lot to learn by taking lessons from both aspects of your life,” says the CEO, parent and debut author. “I have learnt that being a father teaches you how to be a manager and vice versa.”
