Warringah and Pittwater Councils have partnered with Inspiring Women and Industry and Investment NSW to deliver a 5 month mentoring program for Women in Business.
The program, funded by Industry & Investment NSW, has helped more than 7,000 women business owners across the State to grow their business since its launch in 1995.
The Women in Business mentoring program runs for seven sessions from 31 January – 6 June 2011 and incorporates specific business workshops and mentoring, providing both ‘peer to peer’ and ‘one on one’ business assistance.
“The Women in Business mentoring program helps up-and-coming women business owners by providing formal workshops and linking them with experienced business people,” said Warringah Mayor Michael Regan.
“A large percentage of new businesses are started by women often wanting to balance their working lives with family responsibilities, this mentoring program will help them grow their business and improve their competitiveness locally and overseas.
“There has already been a great response from mentors in the design, marketing and finance industries, but we are still looking for more mentors and women in business wishing to benefit from other experienced commercial operators,” said Mayor Regan.
“I encourage all women running their own business to get involved in this mentoring program. It has been designed by industry experts and provides empowerment, support and invaluable networking to help local women succeed in business,” said Pittwater Mayor Harvey Rose.
The NSW Government are heavily subsidising the Women in Business program by 50% so that female business owners only pay $500 plus GST to benefit from this experience.
