The short film Monkey on My Back has won the four top awards at Sunday’s 24/7 Youth Film Festival, hosted by Warringah, Pittwater, Mosman and Manly (the four SHOROC councils).
Over 450 people attended the Awards night to watch the 10 finalists and vote for their favourite film.
Pat Feary and Rhys Bennett, who have entered 24/7 for the last nine years, came up trumps winning: Best Film, Best Script and Best Actor, as well as the Audience Choice Award.
Pat Feary and Rhys Bennett are the only team to have entered every year since the competition started. Special guest Peter Phelps hosted the evening.
Twenty eight films were entered in the competition. Following a series of skills workshops the contestants, who were all between the ages of 12 and 24, were given a list of items, phrases, locations and themes that had to appear in the film. The film was to be no longer than seven minutes and they had just 24 hours to make it in.
